The CMC Rehabilitation Center

The CMC Rehabilitation Center at Virtue Street Medical Pavilion is a CARF-accredited 16-bed rehabilitation unit and is part of Chalmette Medical Center. Approximately 320 patients per year are treated with diagnoses ranging from hip fracture and stroke to multiple sclerosis and polyarthritis. A full spectrum of rehabilitative services provides physical, occupational, recreational and speech therapies, rehabilitative nursing, social work/rehab counseling, psychological services and a physiatrist.

The Rehabilitation Center takes pride in its performance. The results of patient satisfaction surveys from 2002 follow.

Our goal is for patients to return home whenever possible to a safe environment where they can be as independent as possible. The graph below illustrates the status of our patients who were discharged in 2002.

Our Mission
The mission of the Rehabilitation Unit is to help patients rebuild their lives by relearning lost skills, restoring selfconfidence and developing independence in order to return to as normal a life as possible within any physical constraints.
