Louisiana's Great 100 List
Includes Four Chalmette Nurses

Chalmette Medical Center is proud to announce that four of our nurses -- a CMC record -- recently were selected by the Great 100 Nurses Foundation to Louisiana's Great 100 Nurses for 2005.

Barbara Hughes, R.N., B.S.N.; Jill Lambert, R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N.; Jennielee Corlis, R.N. and Elizabeth Frierson, R.N. have been named among the top 100 registered nurses in the state. They were selected by their peers, supervisors and patients based upon concern for humanity and contributions to the community and nursing profession.

"Chalmette nurses do such a fine job for our patients. We're very excited by the news," says Donna S. Shields, Chief Nurse Executive at CMC. "We're extremely proud that many of our nurses are heavily involved in their communities."

For example, Hughes, Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation who helped develop the CMC Cardiac Rehab Program for open heart surgery patients, has served terms as president and secretary of the local American Heart Association chapter since 1988. Lambert, who works on the Medical/Surgical Unit, also is a Charity School of Nursing instructor who accompanies her students to CMC for their clinical experiences.

Corlis is a Catheterization Laboratory recovery nurse, while Frierson is a circulating and scrub nurse in the Surgery Department.

"Our nurses have a genuine concern for our patients' well-being," Shields says. "That makes our patients' experiences here at Chalmette much more relaxed and comfortable."
